1 Which pop star was once described as being a mix of Joan Crawford and Marlene Dietrich ?
2 Which current flavour of the month once played a member of the Von Trapp Family on the BBC?
I have never taken part in a quiz where I can't find verifiable evidence for answers to ( 27 ) questions. I have a few *educated* guesses !!! Every year I try it hoping to do better and I know no-one is forcing me to do it, but where do they get so many obscure questions, that initially seem straightforward . For instance why is there no info for * the birthplace of the first woman to drive buses for a living* I have tried libraries, local studies, books of firsts, it is quite a significant first in social history so why no info .....please excuse the ramblings of a sad old quizzical quizzer....listen I can hear the padded van ... they are coming for me now... peace at last... peace at last !!!!!!!!!!!!!!"""""

question2 duffy? Its the pictures always get me in doing the quiz.I am stuck on the same ones myself, but will try various inputs to the net.For the bus driver a guess at a major town in north east may be best option. There is a catch somewhere in that bus driver question.
I can't find it at the moment but I did google the bus driver one when it was asked on AB a few days back, it was a northern town - it didn't say where she was born but it did say where she was first employed (could be the same thing!)
the bus driver woman came from rotherham, its north but hardly north east .Perhaps she was born up north durham way? If the van turns up i'll pull you back out and sit u in front of the books again.Don't give up.
I'm also doing this quiz so shouldn't really be giving answers away but the answer to your second question is so easy to find I don't think I'm being too charitable in saying it's Pixie Lott.

In the Early Life section.
PS There are loads I'm still stuck with, any chance of a few hints
the river jordan flowing under a town centre. There is details about that i have found.
sorry no details i have found lol
I know that one!!
as for the three men sharing house and women character introduced.Nothing is suspicious about priests sharing houses standard way they do it .All the other tv shows have always had the female character in the series right from the start.
i was thinking All creatures great and small ,but not suspicious there as two of men were father and son.any ideas?
in all creatures there was a housekeeper right at the start. They did bring in a love interest for james herriot after about one episode.Perhaps that was the way they divert suspicion. Then again the story of james herriot has him meeting his wife.It is not something the scriptwriters have to think up.
rising damp was based on a play ,and the character miss jones was in that right at the start.
on the tv and film Q42 there is a mistake ,the guy played mark anthony henry viii and friar tuck on tv but although he was in the adventures of robin hood,he did not play that part.

Thanks all and voidoid if you can tell me some of those you are looking for I'll try and help, but I suspect you are all a little better at this than me in view of the Pixie Lott answer.I honestly could not find a thing on that... I just think I'm not too clever using the internet to it's best advantage. It is interesting however to realise how many people feel the same way about this quiz, its like a drug every year, you hate it but can't resist it and think " Rodney this time next year we could be ........ SUPERBRAIN WINNERS!!! (GOOD LUCK)
Redhand
Seem to be stalling on a lot of the same questions, especially the pictures, but do you know the answer to the one about the first act to have a single peak at each position in the top ten?
The River Jordan thing is local knowledge as I live nearby, however I did manage to find a link on the internet.

Got this first day as i googled the question then Mika, Marc Bolan and this gentlemen.
Redhand, although there are a few mistakes or dubious wordings in the quiz(must be hard creating 300 questions that the sharpest minds in the NE are going to try) TV/FILM 42 is not one of them. True he did not play Tuck in Robin Hood but he did do so in another programme.
GOOD LUCK, my fellow quizzers.Leave room in that van...
he did play tuck in a tv show ,but in the adventures of robin hood he did not play robin hood .That was richard greene
single peak at each position possible it could be Maddness
Elton John qualifys but question says it has to be a band
Sorry redhand, I misread what you had put. He played robin hood in 1973. Sorry again
as you say it is a gueine mistake .When they seen he appeared in adventures of robin hood they thought he played the lead
