12a is interesting. there are two words with but one letter difference that fit the answer. will the tele accept both?

yes, so have i. but the other means exactly the same thing. ah well ...
Having checked Collins as well, both use 'nursemaid' in their defs for 'aYah', but not for 'aMah'... (?)

Might I suggest you Google to OneLook Dictionary Search and check on both. You'll find they match. I use Di ctionary.com much of the time but many of the oither give the same meanings.
Perhaps I'm not doing it correctly, but OneLook only shows 'nursemaid' for 'aYah'?..

type in amah and you get "a woman hired to suckle the child of someone else." that, by any definition, is a nursemaid. but do go to dictionary.com and you'll see what i mean.
Whichever way you look at it, it's sloppy compiling!
