you'd be surprised at how many good hotels do accept pets. If you go on a site like laterooms and do a search for the area you are interested in, on the "hotel facilities" tab for the various hotels it will list if pets are accepted. Also on a hotels own website it will usually explain its pet policy.

On some sites like hotels.com, i think, you can include "pets accepted" as part of your search.

There used to be a book called 'Pets Welcome' that had loads of hotels and guest houses that welcomed pets on holiday. Not sure if it still exists, but we found some fantastic cottages etc, where we took our dog.
