You could say "I want to put a hyphen between the words Fish and And and And and Chips on my Fish-And-Chips sign".

Then I found this bright spark...

Wouldn't the sentence "I want to put a hyphen between the words Fish and And and And and Chips on my Fish-And-Chips sign" have been clearer if quotation marks had been placed before Fish, and between Fish and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and Chips, as well as after Chips?

The PubSignPainter was busy at work outside the Pig And Whistle.. when he'd finished he asked the landlord to give his opinion - he said, "You haven't got the spacing right between the Pig and And and And and Whistle"

Well done but Elfin you lost me a bit and the end!

Yes it is a bit confusing but what it means is that with the suggested quotation marks, the original sentence would then look like this:

I want to put a hyphen between the words "Fish" and "And" and "And" and "Chips" on my Fish-And-Chips sign"

The person was describing where to put the quotes in the original sentence and therefore managed to use a ridiculous amount of "and"s in his/her description.  They're just too clever for their own good - don't worry about it!

But what if the name of the pub is the

Pig and And and And and Whistle?
