27 ac Lydgate's was an Iliad

-Y-T-R-E

Can't find anything in the OED that fits other than Myrt-tree but there's no hyphen. Could it be an archaic spelling of "history"?

Could be, but what does it refer to?
Is there a quotation?
I don't really know. He did write The Troy Book, which is a link to the Iliad. Sorry, can't be of more help.

That's OK I have found it. It is hystorye, from

"The hystorye, sege and dystruccyon of Troye", which is the title of the Troy Book.
