I saw that answer before but I think it is a trick question and the answer has something to do with the salt flats being so dangerous to travel by wagon. Does anyone else feel this way?

i think the answer is 40ft b/c the utah man travels 30ft u have to use this information then he yells so and so which can mean turn right or left if u see the way i did it u can turn any way and stil have the same then the yell something different from the other call which woud be a different turn then your fist turn and drives 10ft so if u draw a line straight out and pretend that is his fist 30ft and then turn right or left from that line and the last turn would be the oppisite from your first turn and make a line meaning 10ft it would equal 40ft b/c your turn of 30ft would not matter it is going out 30ft not straight from his starting point-if this makes sense its hard to say and not draw if u want me to explain more email at [email protected]

It is not 40 feet....
thomas im still waiting on an email from u but i can battle this one with you lol
OOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKK

ekmanning, yes I feel the same way. Why would a Utah man drive a wagon across the flats unless he is dumb! Sounds like the one about "When would a cowboy throw his hat on the bed?" A cowboy never would throw his hat on the bed as it would be bad luck.

So why would a Utah man drive a wagon across the flats, he would already know that he would get stuck especially when he stopped. Something just doesn't sound right. I am still confused on this one.

He travels 30 ft and then yells "Gee Ho" meaning "Right turn", then he travels another 30ft and yells "Haw" meaning "Turn around", and then travels 10 ft and he yells "Whoa" meaning "Stop". Do the math, or go out and use a tape measure and measure it out for yourself. I cheated and had my daughter who is an account  figure it out for me.
I have four possible answers:  30 feet.  They  purposely gave too much info.   40 feet, the first line being irrelevant, and even though he went backwards, he still moved 10 feet.   Or 70 feet.  not as much info on the first line compared to the second and third lines, but still info that needs to be considered, and again, if he went backwards, he still drove the wagon 10 feet.  And finally, could it be like the question "How many animals did Moses take on the Ark?"  Answer, none, Noah had the Ark.  Why would a Utah man go across the flats?
Because the Flats are in Utah

A UTAH man is already in UTAH

The answer is 50 feet.  Simple geomitry.

the answer is 36.055512754398 feet which in math you are always taught to round it off the the nearest number, which makes it 36.1 feet.
