yeah, it hit me later in (my) evening. just goes to show the perils of locking in on one piece of a clue; for some reason I was fixed on "depleted" as the definition, so that "plague leaves place" was left as the wordplay. still, not a great clue in my book. to use 'deplete' to signal 'unfinished' or 'shortened' is a little shaky, I think. plus, no one uses tea leaves over here. *grumble*

I don't read 'tease' as having anything to do with 'teaset' but as 'tea' (ie leaves) + s (it) e, = place depleted.
