Fish without that "fishy" taste

I know this may seem like an odd question but is there any fish that can be cooked without tasting too fishy?

It`s a serious question
Smoked haddock is nice, as it tastes just like that.....smoky, and doesn't smell too bad when simmered in water! But I think most fish are going to smell when cooking as it's something inherent in them! Good luck

Smoked salmon then! Already cooked, so you won't get a kitchen full of fishy fumes! Hey - serious answer.

It`s not the smell I`m bothered about, it`s the taste

Smoked salmon is ok for a starter but I want to cook a main course with fish that doesn`t taste too "fishy"

Remember, fresh fish shouldn't smell greatly. Look for fish that still have fairly bright eyes when they're on the slab - and smell them! If the odour's too powerful, chances are that the fish aren't as fresh as you think.
Salmon won't stink your kitchen out too much. Put the steaks in foil, lightly sprinkle with oil, and put a clove of garlic and/or lemon wedge on top, with a bit of black pepper and a sprig of parsley. Cook on a medium heat until tender. Lovely.
swordfish
yes if you choose one of the more 'meaty' types of fish such as janbee says swordfish or even fresh tuna.
Monkfish.. but it'sexpensive
Trout or seabass. I find the flavours fairly mild.
Yes ummmm I was going to suggest seabass - one of my favourites too!
my daughter wont eat fish that smells or taste fishy but she really loves rainbow trout fillets as she says these dont taste fishy
Any freshwater fish will taste less "fishy" than sea fish, although apart from rainbow trout it can be difficult to buy.

My favourite freshwater fish is pike. I gut it, fill the cavity with lemon quarters, wrap it in foil and either stick it on the bbq or cook it in the oven.
Often, if a fish tastes too fishy, then it might not be that fresh. A lot of people expect sushi to be really fishy, but because it is (usually) very fresh, it can taste exquisitie without the fishy taste. If it smells or tastes fishy, then it aint fresh.

There are also ways you can cook fish, that 'reduces' the fishiness, but the fresher the better. Most white fish should be fairly mild in fishiness.

Lemon Sole, Seabass or Monkfish all have a delicate flavour.
