Foreign bodies in compost???

Thought i would plant some coriander in a tub on the windowsill,had some compost in the cupboard from last year,when i opened the bag there seem to be like small brown casings,wondered if they were going to hatch lol,or could have been something that was just in the compost mix,just thrown it out,what could they have been???

Don't panic, it sounds like slow release fertiliser pellets.

then again, I should have asked...are they tiny round things?

oooh, sounds like triffid seeds, run for the hills! :o)

Well you could disect one & see what's inside. If they look big enough to be housing a creepycrawly/flying creature I'd dump it & buy some new compost.
