Have done the crossword but can you explain these answers??

9 d Extremely happy being in open, the man second on (4,3,4) = over the moon I get 'extreemly happy' but not the rest!
16 Constant bridge partners clinging on to power (7)
=non stop get 'constant' but not the rest.

23a u and non-u were terms for posh and non-posh people (Mitford?), a suit is a term for a legal action, so action around 'u' gives auction - which is where lots go under the hammer
9d open = overt, man = he, second = mo, on=on
16 not sure if this is a very good clue?

Bridge partners can be EW or NS, in this case NS anagrammed with 'on to' and 'P' for power - at least that's how I'd make some sort of sense of it.
