Warm pork pies dilemma.

Sometimes I will buy a packet of 4 pork pies from the shop. When you buy them they are in the refrigerator and I suppose they are nice enough eaten cold. But what I find is whenever I've tried to warm them up in the oven the pastry gets very soggy and makes them unpleasant to eat. Does anyone know of a way to heat the pies up so that the pastry keeps firm?

They are not made to be eaten hot. The pasrty is a hot water crust, that is lard is melted into water and flour added to make a 'paste' type dough.
Don't do it sweetie .... every heard of foodpoisoning?

Put them under the grill and turn them over half way thru warming.

My mother and father in law used to warm theirs on top of the gas fire. They also used to put ice cram to soften in the sun if it was too hard ! Im amazed neither of them got food poisoning. My father in law died aged 66 and my mother in law is nearly 93. Doesnt seem to have done her any harm but being a cook myself, I wouldnt recommend it
Yuk, the one thing I hate is a warm pork pie.

Revolting and I am sure very dangerous!!!

Not to mention the jelly part!!!!

Well, that's me told. Thanks guys for the info but they probably should say something on the pack too. I'm still gonna buy them but as they're nice and bitey, nyum nyum nyum. But I shall desist from warming them up methinks.
