Antidepressents often cause a variety of side-effects, which settle down within a few weeks, as the system adapts to their intake. Some people take medication with no side effects what so ever, and others experience varying conditions - the variance is caused by the drug, and the individual taking it. Some people have taken seroxat with no discernable effects at all, including relief from depression, and a GP will normallly prescribe an alternative in these cases. Some people experience nausea, loss of appetite, insomnia, and loss of libido, but these can be caused by any drug of this type - it's a case of trial and error for people to find the anti-depressent that suits them.
Seroxat has a lot of anecdotal evidence of violent mood swings attached to it. But this is, it should be noted, anecdotal evidence. All the SSRI's seem to have some side effects, but not everyone develops them(in fact the majority of people dont) and they normally become less severe as time goes by. That said Ive known several people on seroxat who have experienced problems with sudden rages....which may or may not be related to the drug. If you are having side effects you must report them to your gp, as there are a range of ssri's available which can be changed pretty much at will. My freinds changed to venlafaxine and only had good things to say about it, but people vary so the same may not be true of you.
YES YES!! I experienced Hallucinagenic side-effects. Colours changed and were brighter, and smells like perfume or fragrant food were incredible really powerful. They do subside however! The drug is excellent for depression.
I was on it for a few weeks and got an urge to binge on food - stuffing myself - but no side effects. They changed me to Prozac and the binging stopped, nevertheless I gained several stones in less than a year (I would prefer not to reveal how many exactly!).
