MM Links Solutions August 2008 [Week 1]

This first week in the reign of Sir Sarumite went beautifully smoothly. Following a theme of Transport, I can now reveal his chosen links were:

BANANA Boat
WAGON Train
Air RIFLE
Bus ROUTE

Several of these links held out for quite some time and scoring was thin on the ground with very few marks going to the very early birds

Rather surprisingly the first link to be spotted was BANANA BOAT which fell to Entrant #7, when Christiana showed her usual insight and claimed the TWO POINTS. She was followed within the two-minute window by the equally shrewd slaney to qualify for the same bonus points. In fact, within the next TWO hours, another 22 more entrants chanced their arms with no success whatsoever!

It took the wily kettledrum to spot the correct BUS ROUTE and start the abacus spinning once again. Another stale patch was reached until new-comer Diane 1956 rolled into town with her WAGON TRAIN to show the regulars how to do it! �Well Done� to Diane and �Welcome�!

Another FOUR hours went by until the very last link word was picked off by Dustybun with her AIR RIFLE. She also had a delayed Banana Boat to amass a total of THREE POINTS and qualify for the title of �Hot Shot of the Week�!

Only late-comer keyboardix managed to test the scorer with a single point late in the game as this first game came to a gentle close.


The League Table after this first week is:

THREE POINTS: Dustybun
TWO POINTS: Diane1954, Christiana, kettledrum & slaney
ONE POINT: keyboardix
Everyone else is in joint seventh position on ZERO Points!


Next week, there will still be everything to play for ~ when Sir Sarumite promises to cut down on the options which will be available! This means more points being up for grabs. Be there for your share of the booty!

Well .. after my first week as Linksmaster it looks as if too many options were available, keeping scores down to a minimum!! Or was my cunning plan perhaps too cunning??

Not able to fool Dustybun though .. well done to her for unravelling the clues to become the week's Hot Shot.

But steady on Strix old chap .. surely denying a fellow man his ale is just a step too far!! :O)

Wow! Points! What a nice surprise, but I think Miss Meg deserves 2 for her choice of Wagon Train. It was top of my short list, but as I expect you know I only choose words that no-one else has staked a previous claim to, and Miss Meg beat me to it!
