4 Weeks Pregnant

Im 4 weeks pregnant, but but suffering period pains backache and sharp stabbing pains. Went up maternity unit yesterday but the wouldnt help me. Just said youv probably mc, now i dont know wat to do im a mess, is my baby alive or dead

Im sorry to hear that you havnt had much advice from the EPU but even a scan at this date wont tell you if the pregnancy is continuing.
Unfortunately at only 3-4 weeks a lot of pregnancies fail, but usually women arent even aware at that stage if they are pregnant and will just assume that their period is just that.

Of course, implantation and round ligament pains can also give slight aches and pains similar to a period arriving so you wont know whats happened unless you get a bleed.

The hospital cant really do anything as as such an early gestation the foetus would be absorbed by your body. But they ought to have given you further advice and infomation as if you are experiencing a misscarriage you obviously need help to come to terms with the loss.

Sorry to hear that, I am disappointed that your EPU didn't help you out with advice, they really should have given you more support and information.

Like Red said, it might very well be implantation pains, which for me felt like I was having a period. But you have to be aware of the fact that you might bleed and that this could be a Miscarriage.

I'm sure you feel a mess and need more advice, but I suggest giving it a few days to see what happens. You will either have a bleed or not, and either way, I would go to your GP or contact the EPU for further advice! Even if it is for support!

I had what I thought was a light period when I was first pregnant with my son (now 22!) and then when I knew I was pregnant I got very strong period pains at about 6 - 8 weeks because I was carrying on playing netball etc. I was sent home from work and stayed in bed for 2 days. They went eventually, stayed pregnant & had the baby. I hope as you're reading this you are ok. I didn't bleed the second time but was terrified I would lose the baby. Hang on in there and if all is ok take it easy until 12 or 13 weeks.
My doctor at the time said there was nothing they could do and just advised me to rest. If you don't bleed I would suggest the baby is ok.

Im 5 weeks and im suffering from period pains and pressure.i spoke to my doctor who said that this was ok as long as you dont have a bleed with it! give it a couple of days and take a pregnancy test,thats what i did again last week because i became paranoid about the pains but when it came up positive it helped comfort me!!
