Why , why , why do they do it !!! The electricity supplier has sent me my statement and have said they are putting my monthly direct debit up as the amount at the moment isn't covering my usage. Up ? They've nearly doubled it !!!
I'm well miffed :-)

have they taken into account the fact that you may not use so much in summer? They often over-compensate, especially as they are the ones who will be benefitting from the interest if you dont use as much.

Hope you are well mamma, i saw you had the tooth done at last, are you recovering ok? xx
never ever do direct debit. I did for a while and they so mucked me about. What do you think they do with all that money that has been paid to them that they dont need, who gets the interest? Its always better to save so much a month in a savings account then pay them when you get bill. And only pay on the red bill as then it costs them to send bills out.

Hi redcrx sweetie , yes I am ok thank you and pleased the offender is out . The direct debit amount has been there a good while and they didn't bother to tell me months ago that it wasn't covering the bill , they 've let it go til now into summer nearly before deciding to up it . I despair !
How are you honey , and how's your appetite now , I hope you get some sleep when you can if babycrx allows :-)

Really? I got a surprise last week when I got my statement, I was 183 in credit, a quick phone call later and my DD amount has been adjusted and the credit transferred back to my account.

I found it odd that for the last 3 months, my cumulative amount of leccy I used only came to 31! I am not the best advert for keeping the carbon footprint down, my computer is almost always on, both TV's on standby and does Gas Central heating use leccy to run too?
Think it's just a horrible fact of life now BM. Leckie and gas has gone up, not to mention food. If you want to partake in any of those 'luxuries', it's gonna cost you girly!
glad the tooth is out now, i cant imagine how bad that must have been :(

grrr at them not telling you that your DD wasnt covering it, id be seriously peed at that too,.

I am eating better now thanks, i still hate having to decide whats for dinner etc as i dont have a clue what i want but i am making myself eat more.

bubs 'slept through' yesterday! such a shame it was from 5.30 to midnight! by the time we realised she wasnt gonna want a feed and went to bed it was 11.40pm. she then had me up at 3 and 6 as well :(

I cant sleep when she does because of work and little CRX doesnt have naps in day any more, mores the pity.

Hi 4get , MONTY , Lakitu , and BOO . I have the television and my computer , lights , and kettle , and nebuliser , but my cooker and cental heating is gas . I know they have both gone up lately , it's scary isn't it xxxxxxx
Question Author
Awww redcrx ...5.30 til midnight ...it's a pity you can't get a wee nap in the day now that you are working honey . It's always easier to handle things in the day if you get a nights sleep , but a disturbed night soon catches up on you I know . ((( hug ))) xxxxxx
Ouch mamma! how frustrating for you hun, and what a pain. Britsh Gas have done same to me.

Apparently we used 281 of gas in the last quarter-WHAT! :O So we are losing the luxury of heating and hot water, and we will wash in a cold bath and wear lots of layers again instead!

It is so frustrating. Hasn't the cost of utilities risen by 43% this year? xxx
Hi Bigmamma, How are you feeling hun?

I pay by direct debit and every year just before Christmas I ask for my over payment back ,last year it was over 200 not the most efficient way of saving for Christmas but it comes in handy.

BTW have they worked out the usage on an actual reading - cos they worked out a friend of mines on an estimated reading which was nowhere near correct.

Question Author
Hello leelapops , and Hellyon , nice to see you both. They did a reading last quarter but last week they didn't do one and so did an estimate I guess . xxxxxxx
Hi bigmamma
These little hassles in life can be a real pain.
I agree with redcrx they often say this because you use a lot in the winter - but dur! during the summer months it all sorts itself out and you are probably paying too much.
Give them a ring and try to adjust it - good luck xxx
Question Author
I did ring them this morning to ask why and how they had doubled it , that's when they said that the previous DD hadn't covered the bill , they tried to get me to pay the excess now which was impossible , so they couldn't change the increase in the DD and said it would be reviewed in 6 months yogasun xxxxxxx
Sorry bigmamma, was in a hurry to go out and didn't read your response. Not much you can do then but grin and bear it :-)) xx
Question Author
Yes yogasun , just have to be another grinbearian :-) xxxxx
hi bm back from Canada 32 hrs without sleep now . talk tomorrow .ps pay up and stop cringing about fuel canada cringing all the time about the price of petrol ( 2.00 a gallon ) If only !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Hi bigmamma - British gas did the same to me. They increased my direct debit by 110%. When I challenged them they said it was to stop the account going into debit over winter. I said that at that rate my account would be well in credit over the summer and that obviously it's okay for them to owe me money but not the other way round. What annoys me is that for the last few years they have had to repay me money that I had overpaid anyway. I don't understand the logic and I'm looking to change supplier at the moment.
Glad to hear you're feeling better
