22dn Dr Dirac finally invented an insulator (6) C?R?I?

25dn Agglutinate around the median (4) T?N?

Note: words in the clue may be reversed, for example, Agglutinate=Gum=mug (rev)

Spent last hour on these two clues.

Many thanks,Aperio

Alcibiades, many thanks for answering.

I had thought of cardid, but this word does not exist in any of my dictionaries or in "One Word". A google search comes up with hundreds of matches for "Card Id" .

The important thing is to bring insulator into the framework. I thought this may be air (reversed) giving C?RRIA, but could not get any sensible answers.

Many thanks

How about CARDIE (as in cardigan) as an insulator against the cold?

Don't know how it would work with the special instrucions though.
For 25d knit could be stick together, median of THE is h giving think, take out the H reverse and you get KNIT...just a thought

Thank you for answering teacher611.

There is another special instruction which I did not mention: there may be an extra letter in the clue. For example, median becomes media. This instruction is mutually exclusive with the one mentioned above.

22dn. CardiE sounds good, but where does the E come from?

25dn Knit when reversed gives Tink - make or emit a high sound. I have not been able to tie this in with the clue.

Many thanks
