I have a large group of family and close friends coming over for Feast on Easter Sunday. I bought what I thought was an incredibly large Turkey from a foreign acquaintence to go into the middle of the table - so large that I have been unable to get it into my freezer drawers so I have had to use my Mums Deep Freezer! I have since discovered that it isnt a Turkey but a SWAN. Would you tell your friends and family or just simply hope for the best. Katie x

Errrrrr, I would throw it away and buy a turkey or chicken. I thought swans were protected in the UK anyway? Are we allowed to eat them?

Well actually Legend I WAS considering PUFFIN but I am trying to give up smoking too !
What happened to your italian bloke?????????? Gossip please!
ting it and also making your family/friends accessories to it.

why would you do that ?
I think if you went ahead and served it you'd be sticking your neck out a bit.

We had what I thought was panda burger recently and I asked my boyfriend if he thought it was illegal but he said it's not so black and white.

I don't get it...just cos things are 'endangered'.
I mean....you can eat octopus, but they're really intelligent.

What if swan, dolphin, shark, whale numbers took off again? Would it be ok to have them then?

I don't agree with the japanese but you can see why they say 'f888 off' to the West for the whaling for meat. They're not THAT endangered, and we eat cow without them driving greenpeace tractors round our fields in protest. Just cos they're cute and we all cried at 'Free Willy'. If Hollywood makes 'Free Daisy' imagine the effect that'll have on hamburger sales.
shes still stalking him.
but going in for the kill tonight
I would continue with the preparation of the 'feast' . Swan is regarded as a speciality. In the end it's a domestic bird, same as the turkey. There are lots of folks who crave swan but cannot afford it. I've seen it prepared and eaten by folks and none were the wiser.
Who to know if you dont tell ? Make sure that you get rid of the feet as they might be a little bit of a giveaway
Agreed. Nothing to get into a flap about.
I aint doin no pluckin though.
Forget to mention it's more like a large duck than a turkey.
all swans in the uk belong to the queen! by eating a swan you will be breaking the law...but then your hardly likley to take it down to your local police station(as your meant to) so i would advise you to go ahead and enjoy! lol...up yours queenie! BREAKIN THE LAW...BREAKIN THE LAW!
surely the long neck was a bit of a clue??
Mohammed Al Fayed has 2 for breakfast. "Gimme my fuggin passport or I'll put them on special at Harrods!"
Turkey from a foreign acquaintence to go into the middle of the table ......if it died from bird flu can you catch it !!!!
Royal flush
Swans for table
What sort of stuffing would you have with it?
