I would go for storage as stowage would imply on board a ship.

I've gone for stowage, with Mr Chambers' help, but reckon either is OK - but does the STel think that, I wonder....?
Sorry, don't agree - this is from Chambers:

stowage n an act or manner of stowing; the state of being laid up; room for stowing; a place for stowing things; money paid for stowing goods; things stowed.
