I had the first session with a new dog trainer on wednesday, took the dog and my partner out last night to show my bf what we were shown and what we would be doing, only whlst running, my foot went down a hole on the field we were in :( My foot went down and from the shock i sort ofjumped in the air and then went down on my shoulder & hit my head. Spent 4 hours in A & E last night, and have a very badly sprained ankle and it really hurts!
At the mo i can just about put my foot on the floor if i have something to support me, but im wonderng how long it may last being so painful?
My bf has said he will go out tomorrow to see if he can buy some crutches, as im worried that even if i can put weight on it by sunday night, i dont think i will be able to walk around on it at work all day monday.
Any advice?

lol neo. thanks!
But im looking for something a bit more helpful! :)
Hi wiggal sorry to hear of that, the agony we put ouselfs through for our faithfull hounds, dont we but they are so worth it
anyway now comes the bad news sorry to say dont think that it will heal for a while as these things do tend to carry on for a while.

Now comes the good news at least you did not fall on your dog as that would probably hurt you even more.
Ibuprifone (scusse spelling) helps a lot taken with a bottle of vodie as well makes for good sleeping. anyway hope it heels soon and good luck with the dog training and if your dogs anything like mine then you will need it

hi my round, thanks for your reply!
The annoying thing was, on wednesday, my dog was fantastic in the training, he did everything and picked it all up so quick! The trainer says he reckons it will only take 3 lessons with him and he will be perfect on walks!
Im partly gutted because now his training will have to go on hold for a while!
My shoulder and neck have been pretty bad today to, but im guessing thats just because i landed on my shoulder and im hoping that will die down soon.
Also feeling bad as my doggy is now stuck in the garden as if he comes in he will go all nuts and come to see me walk into my foot which is sat on a cat box infront of my whilst im on the sofa!
Do you think it is worth investing in a pair of crutches then? as i cant be off work but dont want to be putting extra strain on my foot?
God and I thought my dog was bad how old is he wiggal my golden ret has passed his advanced training a few years ago and he is still a nutter now (takes after me) Oh sorry we were talking about your ankle silly me.
My advise is take it easy lay in the garden this weekend and get sunburnt to take the pain away from your ankle and loads of drink (water that is to stop you dehydrating (spelling) in the sun)
And put the dog on a lead that almost reaches your ankle and he will be happy .
Oh forgot this one vital ingrediant take your laptop out there

My Ashke is a 4 yr old samoyed.
I will take full responsibility to his behaviour though and that is why im now prepared to do what it takes to sort it out!
Hes dominant over me so i struggle on walks but he is the most loving dog! He just goes nuts when we let him in the house and if we ever say something to us or to one of the cats, he thinks we are talking to him and comes running up to me on the sofa!
I cant lie in the sun unfortunately, if im out in it for longer then around 10 mins i get heat rash and go all itchy n red n bobbely!
My round, you sound like some one i would love to chat to about dogs and such, but i dont want to give out my msn on here!
wiggal, oh no! Get well soon love, and I hope it IS soon for you, and you can get Ashke's training up and running again!
my round, you sound lovely :)
Tiss ok wiggle I have a solution to one of your questions about walkies, not sure about the rest of them though as you should let him know that he is not the top dog, you are as you control him not he other way round and dogs only respect the pack leader (but they do challenge them sometimes for the leadership) bit like body and soul realy aint it.

Anyway sorry for getting of the subject a bit, my golden ret has lost a bit of his training and does not walk as well as he used to but there is a thing called a haltie not sure if it is spelt like that but hey and bought one the other day and it works instantley.

|How it works is that you put it round them (it looks like a muzzle) and if they try to pull on the lead then they will instantly stop pulling by the way that it is around them And I love my dog so much and if I thought that if this would ever harm him then I would not use it.
it probbable will take ashke a little more time to get used to it than my little big golden but they do learn and the more intelligent they are the quicker they learn.
Oh god me dogs just gone out the garden now to shout at the cats.
bless his little cotten paws ..
O ****** me golden has just tried to beat me up and stop me posting this

hey nowaypedro, we have used a halti on him for long time, but that is only a temporary solution.
We cant let him off the lead so we want him to walk to heel and come back when we call him.
And thats what i was working on, his recall when i fell!

sorry wiggal hope you and ashkie sort it out but you have to let him know that you are the dominant one ie you give him his food and you give him his water and he has to earn your respect.
A true taste of a dogs character (ssuspe spelling again) is if you give a dog his food and then you can take it away from him then you are the leader of the pack and then the dog will respect you if you respect them and know what line they are in, in the family well my pup (even though hes 5 years old) comes almost first well maybe 2nd or 3rd had to ad that as me g/f might be watching ,
.
Anyway wiggle a dog is so faithfull and it will love you to death wont it
Sorry wiggal for your pain, I say pain because I once did the same and I know the pain you must be in,but try not to put your foot down for at least 48 hours try and rest it as much as you can.Iknow you have a house full of lovies and it will be difficult. All the best love.
don,t take much to sprain an ankle doe's it wiggal ouch lol
only advice i can give is give it as much rest as possible
get the bf to do the fetching and carrying for a month or two
ouch ouch lol
get well soon
Hi wiggal , so sorry to read about your nasty fall . I am surprised that A&E didn't supply you with crutches but if your bf can get some they will help you get around . You will probably feel too sore to move much yet though .
Get well soon , all the best :-) x
