Thanks Nigse. I'm not doing it myself but someone on 'crosswords' was asking and said the second letter had to be the same as the 8th letter. Someone else suggested pubcrawl but the question author rejected it!

looks like they were misreading the grid; the 2nd letter U is 25 while the last (L) was 26; an easy mistake to make.
