This morning's four link words brings to a close the first full month's competition inspired by Kate Mepham and very intriguing it has been. While most of the words have been relatively easy to predict, most being guessed within the first few entries, there have been two weeks where one link remained elusive and this week saw a variation from the four follow-on word format. This week saw the four link words predicted within the first few minutes and the Hot Shots were as follows First cab off the rank and with 2 excellent predictions was Aquagility who guessed Lighthouse KEEPER and Exhaust PIPE. He was followed immediately by cliffyg with Address BOOK and then amazingly, at 7# was yours truly, seekeerz, who managed TREASURE Chest. wonders will never cease !! Then cameArabesque, keyboardix, Cleocima and Shazz Hewat with three very good guesses each, closely followed by Reg Ward, bridgenut, lector, MrJimJools, Dinkypuzzled, spenser, chriss, netkey, Magyar, Ramjet, devadiva and masterchef each scoring two points. One point winners included paulineward, sarumite [with his death defying antics!!] chiefpanda,DizzyLizzie, ulysses100 [complete with head cold] wickedtongue, gardenknowing, littleowl, tenter, rogerr, Laney B, teacher1, gen2, Muzz, Elspeth, ChrisHewat, jayemcee, yelsel, kettledrum, Gravit8, and cpfcrosiel.

Good work SEEKEERZ now persuade aquagility that getting up at 5.00 is good for him.

Continuing on we now come to the winners for the month of February - we have a three way tie on top, with 7 points each, are Jan1956, JMR27 both of whom failed to add to their last weeks score, only to be joined at the head of the ladder by wickedtongue

Crofter assures me that there is a procedure to cope with this eventuality [and I do hope it does NOT involve the entrails of a goat as suggested by someone who would prefer to remain nameless !!] but as yet I'm not aquainted with this information so please watch this space.

With 6 points each - Aquagility and Arabesque

With 5 points - ulysses100, Magyar, gen2 and chriss

With 4 points - slaney, lector, Reg Ward, rogerr, cliffyg, Alibobs, masterchef and teacher1

With 3 points - crofter, bridgenut, sarumite, seekeerz, paulineward, Dinkypuzzled, devadiva, twosearch, cpfcrosiel, Ramjet, DizzyLizzie, Elspeth, Chris and Shazz Hewat, netkey, keyboardix, littleowl and Cleocima

Thanks chiefpanda - I've already suggested he should soldier on, on our behalf - he has yet to come up with his note from the headmistress - we await further developments
congrats to wickedtongue AGAIN! realy well done, top in both games! that will take some beating. There was me ready to give in as I did not get any right this week I shall just have to wear my small tiara and not the full crown as I am sharing with jmr27 and wickedtongue
thanks stef for the hard work, now you can go and lie down.

now to continue with the points scoring - hey this cut'n'paste is all very well but how do you persuade it not to re-adjust the layout ?????

Scoring 2 points - Chiefpanda, Christiana, sohcahtoa, Bangor and spenser

1 pointers include Mr JimJools, tenter, Grenmus, yelsel, jayemcee, lysander, Gravit8, Mr Alibobs, kettledrum, and two new chums Laney B and Muzz

Conratulations to all points scorers - tuning in to a new 'thinker' will naturally take a little time, but quite a few have managed this very quickly and the next months will prove to be quite a challenge so Good Luck over the coming weeks and I will return asap with the ruling from he who must be obeyed !!!! bye for now, Steff
Who IS this wickedtongue!!! Expose yourself!!...no on second thoughts!!
Who allowed partners to have a go??!! ..oh yes I remember now..I started it! Serves me right, I have one gloating hubby AGAIN!!! They just have to muzzle in don't they?
The first thing he asked on the phone a few minutes ago, was how many had scored!...and yes and I am feeling a bit better love!!!
Congrats to all top scorers...just wait until I reach my top form!!!
Have a good week everyone..Pauline x

I think we're all waiting with bated breath for the mysterious wickedtongue to come out of the woodwork to centre stage - they've been a very quietly successful competitor on both sites - time to front up.

Pauline, I wondered how you were handling Reg and his success, oooh they can be infuriating when they win, can't they and I hope you've got that cold on the run, they're infuriating too.

I'm guessing that wickedtongue may be a lady, I feel that might be a female inspired alias, but I can be wrong - only time will tell.
Good mor(eve)ning Steff, must say that your efforts over the past month have been brill . . although all of the work behind the scenes can be enjoyable, I know from experience that it can also be demanding.

Pleased to see you have mastered the cut 'n paste, but did you see on MM link that I followed your earlier guidelines and messed up on the Bold Type?

Well done to the high flyers of the month who now await crofter's ruling for an overall winner. Let's hope the play-off is not too gruesome!! ☺

Apology time - to cliffyg - in addition to a Hot shot</b 2 pointer, there was also 1 point which takes cliffyg up into the overall 5 point winners category - sorry about that cliffyg.
Congratulations to Jan1956, JMR27 and wickedtongue for taking the medal positions. It's good to see that I am in good company in the top ten, but a whole shoal on our tails. Watch out for next month.
Well done Steff on the exposition --- keep up the good work.

It's contagious - this stuffing up of bold type just when you think it's second nature it turns round and bites you, ouch
Congrats to all the top scorers. Well done. I will have to work harder next term, oops, I mean next week ! One correct answer a week is just not good enough !
