John christopher's "a wrinkle in the skin" about earth quakes and the channel gets drained

he did 3 other good global disaster books

The death of grass - global famine
Empty World - a plague wipes out 99% of the population
The world in Winter - Ice Age

Also I recommend "King Blood" by Simon Clark which was that author's homage to wrinkle in the skin

Much appreciate your reply File Cutter thanks..
File Cutter, when I read the question I was thinking it could be a John Christopher book although I havent read that particular one. I read the Death of Grass when I was 14 and it scared the pants off me. I re-read it about 2 years ago and while I appreciate that it was written in the 50's, it still holds true today and still scared the pants of me!
I've read loads of post apocalyptic fiction books - if you enjoyed
"the death of grass" you will probably also like "famine" by Graham Masterton - similar premise but by a horror writer.
