Christmas in New York City has it's Must-Dos. Ice skating, The huge christmas trees, etc. Are there any similar things in London? Christmas Must-Dos?

Whilst you're near Hamley's, nip down the road and have a wander around Liberty's. You expect to bump into Charles DIckens when you walk in.

daisy, it sounds great. but i'm heading to london to see some friends on dec 18th and im looking for christmassy things to do
I don't live in London, though I work there, and I have to say that there aren't any really unique London Christmas "must-dos" except the things which have already been mentioned, like the temporary ice rinks, the Christmas lights in Oxford and Regent Streets, the usual Christmas shows or pantomimes, many of which can be done in other cities.

London has, though, recently started to have parades on New Year's Day (not really Christmas, though).

If you're meeting your friends on Dec. 18th, the shops will still have their Christmas displays up, but hurry! Some big shops in central London actually take down their Christmas displays before Christmas, to get ready for the sales which often start on Boxing Day.

thats just wierd. taking down the displays before christmas? they're going up earlier too. pretty soon the stuff will be going up in may and coming down at august!
If you've got kids with you a pantomime is a very British theatrical treat.

I know it's not exactly Christmassy but you should also try and do the London Eye - the huge ferris wheel nr the houses of parliament. It will probably thrill you with it's views.
Question Author
already done the london eye. though i did it during daylight, does it still run after dark?
