Many of you are old hands at this already.
This week would be an excellent one for new contestants to start as it's the beginning of our new scoring system courtesy of crofter, so if you want to be topping the table come the end of November, give it a try today .
The idea is that you attempt to predict Monday's Herculis LINKS , given Saturday's LINK words , which i'm hoping that some kind-early-risin'-crossword-doing AB'er will post here on Saturday AM.

If you'd like to have a look at the rules and different ways you can score points, click on this link :

Good luck to all and I hope the LINKS give contestants a fighting chance this week after last weeks stinkers.

My answers are;
bad Faith
dance Recital
Russell diagram
Lymph gland

Belated Happy Birthday Pauline, I'm 50 in January - Let me know what it feels like?
Very late starting the crossword. So late it is now Sunday pm! Her is my feeble attempt:
RUSSELL SQUARE
GOOD FATIH
SONG RECITAL
LYMPH NODE
Am busy practisng for my own song rectial hope I do better at that than I usually do at guessing!! Also many thanks to ABers who provide us mere mortals with the answers thay can't find.
With over 50 predictions lodged, we have reached Sunday evening and it's time for an assessmant of the situation.

On the whole, LYMPH produced the most consistency, with the overwhelming majority of people going for either GLAND or NODE. Only 5 alternatives were suggested outside this dominant pair!

Most people also used FAITH for their "creative thinking" in order to secure that elusive prize of four stars. Some 15 different links were suggested for FAITH - led by HEALER or HEALING. With your permission, I would like to treat these two answers as being equivalent! There was strong back-up from BLIND FAITH (something needed for this game in abundance).

Under RECITAL, there appeared to be two firm favourites in PIANO first (23) and ORGAN second (16).

For the last Link Word, honours were shared between RUSSELL GRANT (n = 10) and JACK RUSSELL (n = 10), although there were another 24 different predictions made by ABers to match with the given word, RUSSELLl

Last week, we saw that the final answers did not match the poular vote, but who knows what may happen this week!

Let the countdown begin!
Have just read through everuones predictions for tomorrow and would also like to add birthday wishes to paulineward for her 50th.. Remeber 50 is the new 35. I hope you had a good day. Today would have been my 18th wedding anniversary if my husband hadn't gone and found himself another woman! Had a good day despite this. Best wishes to all ABers.
Coming in rather late in the day having been away most of the weekend, my guesses and apologies if they are the same as someone else's are:

Russell Square
Lymph node
Faith School
Piano Recital
Russell Crowe
Lymph Gland
Blind Faith
Organ Recital
The four Links have been given to me as follows:

JACK Russell (jan1956)
ORGAN Recital (sarumite)
Lymph NODE (bookwormer)
KEEP Faith(!) (ontarioice had Keeping Faith - accepted )

The entries have been double checked and the BONUS points for being the entry FIRST to predict a winning Link Word are awarded to the ABers named in the brackets above. We did much better this week, but still not quite reaching the perfect score of predicting all four Links!

Top score was 4 points to ontarioice for getting 3 correct plus one bonus point.
Closely following with 3 points are chriss , jan1956 and yelsel - two of whom picked up zero bonus points! Hence three entries had THREE hits out of four - Well done all.

Eleven entries scored 2 points, 26 scored 1 point, and 17 are yet to score! Some of these 17 had good guesses, but with piano (for organ) and gland (for node). How close can these be?

Better luck next week to all ABers taking part. These scores will represent the first component of a 4-week total for November. It's not a sprint, but a marathon - Cheers!
Well done ontarioice .... top of the league!

Thank you Crofter, good to see such a high scoring week, and the closest yet to a full house !

I've awarded stars to ONTARIO, CHRISS and YELSEL for getting 3 from 3.

The serious business of the league table however has gotten off to an excellent start and things should be getting interesting come the end of the month,

I think this week we had the highest number of entries to date and the standard was very high.

Thanks all for your participation, and I also thought it was rather nice how many sent greetings to Pauline along with submissions.

See you Saturday :)

Amendment to above
* That should of course read, " 3 from 4 " *
Well done ontarioice - first place and Jan1956, Chriss & yelsel. Better luck next time for the rest of us.
Really excited having 3 points this week!
Thanks to crofter and ShamrockBlue for giving us so much fun over the weekend !
All the best everyone for next week1
thanks for the hard work doing the calculations crofter and shamrock for starting it early on Friday so us dawn risers could get our guesses in early before work. I am pleased to be in the running on the first week hope to do better next week. Congrats to ontarioice and chriss
jan
Good morning all. I've just finished breakfast and was drinking my coffee when I read the results. Nearly dropped the cup. Congratulations to Chriss, Jan and Yelsel.
(Now, come on the rest of you and do better next week, you're surely not going to let a Crazy Canouk beat you are you? :) :) :) )
Thanks a million to Shamrockblue and Crofter for all their time and effort.
I've a feeling this is going to be a great day - certainly a good start.
Good luck to all for next week.
Very well done to the winners (three out of four - phew!)
At least I improved. Got one.
ontarioice Enjoy your moment of glory - it's well deserved. I came on AB before bed simply to wish you all the very best. Your picking up on "Keeping Faith" was the telling point. No-one else saw it, so it was a unique winning link. There are clearly some benefits coming on at the end!

Several points occur to me: I am relieved that Jack Russells don't pull sledges in Canada!
You are the front man at present, but there's a chasing pack after your hide! They say that the Mounties always get their man - Well you ain't seen nothing yet! You're a marked man ontarioice!

Seriously though, well done indeed!
Thanks Crofter. I actually didn't think I had a snowball's change in you-know-where as I don't really even know what puzzle is involved so am entering blind, as it were.
However, It was a lovely surprise.
Oh! Yes! I'm sure that the pack will be after me and even with a two-way bet I'm sure I'll not be up on the podium singing "Oh! Canada" again next week.
Thanks for staying around to give your congrats and, of course, your warning.
O-ice
Can't believe I got 3 out of 4 on the first week. Shame I will be out of internet reach for the final 2 weeks this month tho so no chance of taking it much further.
However, I have 2 x 10 National Book Tokens which I am willing to donate for the first two winners in memory of my Mum who loved all word games. She especially loved the General Knowledge ( Known in our family as the "Gin and Orange)
Can one of you organisers let me know how I can get them to you safely without compromising our anonymity ?
Well done all !
yelsel That's very generous of you!

As far as anonymity goes, it appears that it is more acceptable for an ABer to divulge their own details. What is not acceptable is to probe the personal details of others! ShamrockBlue has given an e-mail address on AB and that could provide the start of a "safe route".

ABers do enter competitions and do win prizes, so I can't see there being a problem.

On the matter of you personally losing use of a PC for two weeks, I wondered if you would be able to get to a telephone? I feel sure that something could be arranged that would cost only a few pennies - rather than you lose out on such an excellent start. We need you in the hunt for the elusive O-ice!
