Just had to share with you all my amazement after 8 years of trying every week to win the Mail on Sunday Prize Crossword - I WON!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't quite believe it when I saw my name in the yesterday's paper but the cheque arrived today!

To all you fellow puzzlers out there - keep at it!!!!!

You can't win if you don't try.

Good luck to you all - it is possible!

Brilliant, glad to hear of a winner. Well done!!
Congratulations lennypops ! After 8 years of trying it's well deserved.

If I could also add my own note of thanks to ABers who have helped me with many tricky answers over the last couple of years when i've accessed the site on a "read-only" basis at the library.
Now i've got my own PC I hope I can be of assistance to some of you on occasion.
cheers
Let's hope it is the start of a winning streak for you!
Many congrats.
I'm delighted for you, but you have at least answered a puzzle in my mind. I always wondered whether winners were notified in advance of the publication of their names. Why, then, do we have to submit phone numbers with our entries.? If they don't ring to tell us, there doesn't seem much point. I found my name in last Saturdays' Telegraph as a winner for the GK quiz on August 26th. Quite surreal seeing your name in a national paper. Anyway, well done Helen...
Well done Helen !
Can you confirm the rumour that you're talking all the AnswerBank Quizzes and Puzzle Board Members out for a beer !
Seriously well done after all those years of trying.
Congratulations, well done, doesnt it feel great ?

Hi everyone!

Thanks for all your congraulatory messages!

To FanOfKylie: How about I have a drink for you all!!!!!

To Paul 21455: I also wondered why I needed to put a phone number when they hadn't called me. I ended up ringing the paper on Monday morning just to be sure it was me. The crossword I won was the one that appeared in the paper 2 weeks before and seeing my name in the paper was the first I knew about it! I was starting to think it was someone else with my name who might have won!

They told me that they ask for a phone number in case they can't read your address properly. Bit weird as I don't know about anyone else, but I use my neatest writing on any competition entries! Don't want to give them any doubt who I am or where I live!!!!!!!!!

At least that solves one puzzle for us all.

Best wishes

Lennypops x
May I add my congrats and isn't it wonderful and warming to see so many people thrilled with your success - not a hint of jealosy.
Agree with Redbeard - it's the 'community' spirit' on Q&P that differentiates this bit of AB from other sections.

Very well done (and I'm only a little jealous.....)
