I've settled on Monad. According to Chambers an ultimate unit of being, a spirit a God.
It must be Mona (girl) + D but i spent ages thinking it was Man (isle). Still not completely convinced.

I think the explanation is .....

MONA is an island in the Caribbean (Puerto Rica / Dominican Republic are)

so Mona (for the island) + d (for daughter) gives you Monad ... which as you say is God (in Gnosticism, God is known as the Monad ... ie the one single nique from the Greek word μονάς

Thanks Pandabear.I suppose 'girl' could have been superfluous to the clue which would still have worked ' Island daughter of God'

How were you able to type the Greek word ? I have enough trouble with the basic alphabet on the keyboard. K
Nearer home, Mona is the Latin name for Anglesey.

The character map (in windows accessories) has greek letters (and all sorts of other things as well) that you can copy/paste into documents.
hi kayakamina -

I do not think that 'girl' is superfluous ....

MONA = girl's name AND name of island, probably a reference to Anglesea rather than my 'island in the sun' = 'island girl'

d' 'for daughter

= monad

and that greek word - dzug is right about the character map (so long as you have window's accessories) ----

I copied and pasted from a dictionary reference to monad!
