Doesn't tell you how many letters on the second one, only the start letter.

If you are allowed more than one word, what about TRIANGULAR TART such as Coventry Cakes (see below)

Coventry Cakes are triangular tarts of rich pastry filled with an aromatic mixture of fruits and spices.

In that case - I did think of TURNIP, which grows , is edible, starts with T and ends with NIP (bite). "Just" the TUR to link with "A three point"!
how about turnip? 3 point turn and nip. I know there's an extra n, but it could be a 'sounds like' clue

I am going to put turnip. I think that the tur sounds like ter as in tertiary etc.
This quiz has had a right mixture of clues and answers.
