Can anyone tell me if Pea Shingle is the same as Pea Gravel as i have been advised to mix pea shingle through our back garden soil to improve drainage but B&Q only have Pea Gravel?

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but pea shingle is finer and has more sandy grit.Pea gravel is more pebbly. We used pea shingle once on clay soil to aerate it. You would be better off to go to a builders merchant to purchase it where it will be much cheaper .
Its the same generic stuff. It goes through series of finer and finer sieves leaving just course grit at the end. The generally used diameters of the sieves are 3mm, 6mm, 10mm, 20mm. Pea gravel is the normal term for stuff that has been through the 10mm sieve but won't go through the 6mm sieve. Going to a builders merchant will be much cheaper - about 40 or less for a 850kg / 0.5 cubic metre Bulk Bag but you might have to pay for delivery.
