Looks like it should be 'sure'
Question Author

I agree but, have you any idea why?

Mo

s for south + ure ( river = flower)
As someone who is useless at cryptic style crosswords, no. The 'no doubt' bit makes me think that, but I can't get beyond a Yorkshire rose. You need to ask shaneystar, she's much more intelligent than me!

Thanks campbellking and kettledrum for your help.

I really cannot get this one and I would hate to miss the opportunity of winning a Collins' Dictionary ( a whole one, not even having to share the prize ).

I'll risk SURE, thanks.

Mo

A flower in cryptic terms is a river. As in flowing. Not in the sense of flower as a bloom.
The Ure is a river in South Yorkshire .
If you are in no doubt ..you are sure .

Thanks Shaneystar,

I've realised the "flower" in the cryptic sense, not got my cryptic head on at 7:oo a.m. today.

I live in South Yorkshire and I know the Ure so, smacked legs for me, thanks once again.
