2) refers to the ZEEMAN effect and both words "twenty" and "thirty" refer to answers to other question. For example, a QUAGGA is an extinct ZEBRA etc.

Thanks Crofter, I had worked out the Zeeman one, since I posted the question, so I am only left with No 3. But even with your clue I am still no wiser. Do I dare ask for a little more help, it has to be posted tomorrow.
