Question Author

Thank you so much everyone - you are all gems. Just one to go. Yes The Winner No.43 is definately 10 letters (unless there is an error of course).

I've been looking at that one for ages, The Winner, what are your thoughts?

43 all i can see is BlakELANDs ,buckinghamshire

I'm not convinced that No. 50 is correct, if anyone else has a better answer

it was a wild guess ellie using anagrams of his titles, CBE, RDI, RA etc  then using his initials PTB. One of the anagram solvers threw out Rabbit . The only place I can find is Rabbit's Cross which is 12. Obviously, I'm not right. He was also the illustrator of Alice through the looking glass.

Great offer mallyh, I think that's it!

Ellie/ Might end in glade but cannot, at the moment, find anything.

Thanks Moorea, that's probably it mallyh

Your offer for 50 looks good ellie.

i agree with ellie slade is an old term for valley, dell  dingle, open space between banks or woods x

Thanks, The Winner, slade means  'an open space ...' but I thought because it's not in common usage it mightn't be correct

Thanks also, mallyh
