I wasn't allowed to read the Beano or Dandy, as my mother said that they were "only for rough, common children". So it was the Beezer, the Topper, Buster and Look and Learn for me.

I started on The Beezer, then moved on to The Lion, Victor and Valiant. A bit later it was the Commando series.

The beano and dandy for me followed by the best comic of all, the Eagle.
In the link it said two characters were to be renamed to stop children with acne and being over weight from being bullied. Children can be extremely cruel to each other without the need of comics to aid them.

I used to take the beano until my late 20,s. When they took out The 3 bears sometime in the mid 1880,s I wrote to the comic, got a nice letter back saying that the 3 bears were the least favourite but 'who knows maybe after a period of hibernation they would return'
