Just opened a pack of pears which has been in the fridge for 5 days and out jumped the above. I managed to grab a glass and cover it as it shot across the kitchen floor. It must have been cold so I'm leaving it on the warm floor to thaw out. Question is do I put it outside tonight, it's a bit nippy? Or leave it where it is until the morning?

My Mum was terrified of Spiders and that set me off too. I decided that I wouldn't do this to my son and gradually, ver time I have learned to live them, but can't handle them. We live in a very old beamed house which at this time of year is full of big ones. They are all called Fred! One big Fred ran off a towel and over my bare legs last week whilst I was on the loo and I...

Cup it in your hands and take it to the back/front door and ket it go
Are the pears English, packed in England?
you should be more worried about how did it get into the pack , and take it back to where you bought it from
Fear not! Government sources confirm five visas for arachnid disposal operatives issued. Help is being organised.

Be patient and above all, don't have nightmares.

Or pears.
Kill it
Conference pears - have a chat about it
Williams pears - give it back to William
Probably a Comice pear as it was in the fridge...

It'll be cold Bobs, what about the shed? The pack came in my Waitrose delivery last Saturday. I've just checked BM and they are from Spain. I'm trembling at what you might tell me LOL. Take what back brian, the spider?

They are Green Williams Pears.
Don't kill it...spiders are useful creatures. Unless it's not a native English spider...
ladybirder ,,, yes and the pack of pears and complain
Ah they eat flies and stuff, I’m not scared of them at all
Me neither.
Hmmm. Those pears come from other places too. It's probably fine but I'd have to be sure before releasing it.

I'm not scared of them either and I wouldn't dream of killing it, we need all the spiders we can get. I just didn't want to put it out in the cold tonight after it's got warm again in here.
OK BM, I won't release it tonight, I'll ring Waitrose in the morning and see what they say.
If the pears were not grown and packed in the uk making the spider a non native species it would be illegal to release it into the wild. It should be properly identified as some may be hazardous to humans. If they were UK pears then just let it go somewhere sheltered.
I don't think one spider is a risk. It takes two to reproduce.
True but if there were a closely related species hybridization is possible
Whilst in Florida some years ago, a Black Widow appeared on the patio and started advancing towards me. It was the spider or me. 'Tis the nature of things. Suvival.
I can't bear spiders. I know it's illogical but I just can't. In my house - if my husband wasn't around - it would be dead.

Walking past the banana stand in a supermarket a few years ago, something caught my eye. I looked down at my shoulder and there sat an enormous black spider. My performance in knocking it off and flattening it would have graced Strictly! I did take the trouble to show the nice lady on Customer Services the corpse though.
