guardian genius xword help please

can anyone help me get started with this months please.

i don't usually finish it but this month i can't begin it!

Where in the Guardian is the Genius crossword?

it comes out on the first monday of each month so has been out for a while now.

I can normally get a few on Genius, but I''m afraid I don't even understand the instructions. It gets more and more obscure...

This crossword is not as difficult as it seems - once you have marshalled all the facts.

The approach I used was to think of likely solutions to the definition part of the clue that fitted the diagram.

I noticed a pattern emerge where all the clues began with one of four letters.

These letters rearranged gave the word suggested by "Wind up".

Once you've got this far the crossword becomes much easier. 15ac is difficult.

I won't spoil the fun by giving any more away.

Note: the first letter from the crptic part is always missing. For example if the definition was "catch", the cryptic part would yield "atch"
