Help! I have two answers (I think) but I can't figure out why.

Chips and sliced fruit for Newly-weds (6) I have Q?I?C? and it looks like Quince.

One in four men (4) I?V? I think it's Ivor but why? The answer to 4 across is "leg break" but I don't think that has any relevance.

Any ideas would be gratefully received

Peter Quince was a carpenter (chips)

IV 4, OR men

PS 4 is off break, not leg break
I didn't mention The Owl and the Pussy Cat for quince, but perhaps I should have
OR is other ranks, i.e. men, not officers
