Pollution levels way down, massive improvement, mainly due to the reduction of air travel. Hope it continues!!

It won't. When and if it's declared safe to travel I will be booking straight away.

My in-laws live in Ireland. He hasn't seen his mum in 18 months. His mother has never met her great grand child. There will be lots of flights between here and Ireland from this household.

Then...I want to go, just the two of us. Somewhere relaxing and stress free.
So you'll approve of your prime minister riding a bike in London rather than driving?
Oh, hold on....

Still good news in my book, will there really be somewhere were it will be relaxing and stress free?

13.19 Yes, after the hospitals have become more manageable, until then walk.
"Aviation contributes about 2% of the world's global carbon emissions" but even so yes let's bash the holidaymakers as usual.
Mines booked and paid for Prudie :0)

Well off for a nice walk in the fresh air, keep the pounds off:0)
I hope the air industry does not go down the drain. For purely selfish reasons
I have 2 booked and paid for bobbi. The first is February and I know we won't be able to go - that was a biggy too :-(
Also for selfish reasons lack of foreign travel has hit me the hardest mentally during the pandemic and protecting the aviation industry would be near the top of my list.
It is a shame that some people are still reluctant to take up 'staycations' in support of the UK travel/hospitality first.

hospitality *industry
We've written off foreign holidays for 2021 even tho we love them as we've had 4 holidays cancelled (2 abroad and 2 in England/Scotland) which has been a struggle to get money back in 2020 and think theres a strong chance it would happen again this year. We've so many friends & family visits here to catch up on we can manage until 2022 for flying.

I have now had three foreign holidays cancelled: in June, October and this coming February. I have received prompt refunds (in cash) for them all. The latest - for my abandoned trip next month - hit my bank account yesterday. I have another three booked and will be taking any of them I am allowed to. As well as that, as soon as things open up I shall be taking one or two extra trips to make up.

Tell me where I can go in the middle of February, jack, for a couple of weeks relaxation in the UK? (OK , nowhere at present, but if there were no restrictions).
I'll be on the first plane that takes off...
Shetland :)
Prudie it's good to have 'something in the bag ' isn't it :0)
Pre pandemic and post pandemic there are loads of places in the UK judge. North Wales, South wales, Scottish highlands and islands, Lake District, Cotswolds, Northern Ireland coast...
New Judge - I think you might need to pop in rockyracoon's thread where other ABers will be able to provide you with some interesting alternatives.

I try to avoid staying north of where I live unless absolutely necessary (e.g. weddings, funerals or to visit a steam railway). And I certainly don't live north of Shetland! :-)

What, in February??? Anyway Northern Ireland is out as I'd have to complete a customs declaration to import my pork scratchings.
