Why are they all shave point plugs? I would presume that the number of people who want an electric toothbrush is very much larger than the people who have shaver points!

correct Bednobs - but I just bought a 3 pin plug with the 2 pin shaver point and charge it up when it needs.
You use both shavers and toothbrushes in the bathroom.
A simple adapter solves the "problem"...it's a safety feature I believe.
The reason for shaver lugs is that you cannot put a 3 pin socket in a bathroom which is where most men shave.
I prefer the battery operated ones Bedknobs. My shaver point is right near the loo and dont fancy plugging it in there. Illogical I know.
^plugs^
...and although you've called them "shave point plugs", they are just UK 2-pin plugs (which are slightly different to European 2-pin plugs, naturally!)

its annoying to say the least
Why annoying? Most people clean their teeth in the bathroom and most bathrooms have a shaver socket; it seems to me to be the logical plug to have on the charger cord.
I use battery toothbrushes. I haven't got a shaver point in the bathroom.
ummmm - you don't use the toothbrush whilst it's plugged in; it's a rechargeable toothbrush which you charge using a 2-pin socket or a 3-pin socket with an adapter.
Personally, I'd much rather recharge shavers, toothbrushes, torches etc. at a "charging area" in a spare bedroom using a proper adapter in a standard wall socket. I've never recharged anything in a bathroom.
I have a Philips Sonicare it charges using a USB port.

do most bathrooms really have a shaver point? Ive lived in 7 different homes and none of them have
I have fitted many bathrooms and have never been asked to stick a shaver point in one.
It makes sense to fit a shaving point plug on them, Bednobs. It means that people who've got a shaver socket in their bathrooms can use them safely, whereas everyone else can use them elsewhere (again, safely) by purchasing a cheap adapter:
https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-1-amp-fused-shaver-adaptor/p/5363940

If they had a 3-pin plug on them, people without a shaver socket in their bathrooms wouldn't be any better off (apart from not having to buy an adapter), whereas people with shaver sockets might be tempted to improvise a connection between those sockets and their toothbrushes, thus putting themselves into danger.
Shaver points were for when the razor was corded...no one in their right mind buys a razor with a cord on anymore
Mine doesn't have a shaver point, but all our toothbrushes are battery.

its annoying because i just bought one and now can't charge it before i buy an adaptor
