Someone is letting off fireworks nearby as I type (at 1:25 am).

One of the "entitled brigade" no doubt.

In a week's time (Sat 14 November), they'd only be slightly beyond the legal time because it will be Diwali, when the cut-off is at 1am.They shouldn't have been set off after 11pm tonight. (They had up to midnight on Thursday because it was Bonfire Night).

I'm far from being 'pro-fireworks' at the moment because I've not seen one of my cats since last night and I suspect that he was terrified by the fireworks which were being let off then :(
That's ridiculous Canary I had enough of it on Friday night what a waste of money
That's crazy, was going off earlier by me ( and for a few nights before ) some of these fireworks are extremely loud, must scare the carp of of animals and babies ( should be for display purpoises only imo ).
some going off now, its absurd.
Luckily, all stopped here at about 8.30ish. Probably be some more tonight. Sick to death of them!
I'll never understand why after the 5th fireworks continue although now it's happening for birthdays and no longer displays on NYE, it's happening in gardens
As long as the government allows them to be sold to the general public without any limits on them whatsoever, this will continue to be a problem every year. I'm beginning to actually dread it now as they seem to get louder and louder every year.
There were far more being let off last night than on the actual Bonfire Night. At times it was so loud out there, i was transported back to my army days, out on the 'heath' on 'exercise'. The distant 'pop' 'pop' 'pop' of gunfire, followed by the screeching and the deep boom of heavy artillery support. I almost dived for cover on a couple of occasions :-/
There used to be a factory opposite me which has long been demolished, leaving just the perimeter wall (a bit like an amphitheatre, if you will), and the sound these fireworks make appears to resonate around these walls, magnifying the volume. Would have been quite reminiscent had i not spent much of the evening trying to calm a fretting Jack Russell.
Signed a few weeks back ...
I sign the petition every year and I know that firefighters have lobbied the government as well as they are always in the thick of it, but nothing, nothing seems to work. I fear we are on a hiding to nothing as the saying goes ...
I hate to think of all the poor, terrified pets. My Jill isn't bothered, but plenty are.
