I remembered going to see Roy Orbison at the Derngate Centre in Northampton.
I was an avid fan of his. Seen him in a few other places.
I was so disappointed this time. He never spoke a word in between songs. He sang them well but not the same. When he came to do Only the Lonely, he jazzed it up to a different tempo. Nothing like the original wonderful song.
I remember going to the loo in the theatre afterwards, and everyone was talking about this different rendition.
Does anyone remember this occasion?

It was his job.
Ever had an off day in your job?
I saw them at the Red Edge concert - amazing :-)
Sorry - wrong post (-:
I told her to soak them in a bucket of soapy water.

The year would help.

Been to The Derngate many times though.

It was a very long time ago. I will investigate!

June 1985.
I wasn't allowed to go to concerts in '85 by myself :-)

There are some strange performers. I think some become a bit eccentric over time.

Once Van Morrison performed a set with his back to the audience.

That must have been weird ummm
I just put a film on and the opening song was Pretty Woman :-)
Isn't it sickening when folk tell you they weren't allowed to go to concerts on their own in 1985... :-(
Sorry, Gness, won't happen again :-)
Hmmmm....you'll probably tell me that I'm older than your mother.... :-)
Been to the Derngate many times, brought back some forgotten memories (including one visit which led to an interview in a police station - but that’s for another time :) ).
Many happy trips to The Derngate. Probably all met up there in the ladies.
Except for Sherr who was probably being led away in handcuffs. ;-)
Same age, Gness, and she's fit as and funny as (insert swear words)
Perfect sort of mum, Ummmm... as I keep telling my kids. :-)
Saw Ken Dodd at Derngate. There was a sign in the foyer saying not to worry about the car park, it would stay open til he finished. In my innocence, at that time, I didn't realise it was because the car park should have closed way before Ken did!
