Very moving.

However, may I add just as I did at her age my 12 year old granddaughter has (with her pals) stood in the cold for a large part of today selling Poppies as she has done in the past and will do in the future.

Whilst remembering those who gave so much for us we need not blame our children for all the wrongs in the World today.
It sounds awful but this the song the words were taken from

Question Author
I haven’t and I don’t think the poem does either
There’s more good than there is bad
Question Author
Never heard that before wolf
“Our youngsters don’t wish to remember our names” That’s just plain not true.
At least I don't blame Motorhead for the dig against the young, someone added that.
How do we know that the person who posted this is or was a soldier?
Question Author
I don’twoof , I don’t, only assuming by the words
( wish I hadn’t bothered now haha )
woofgang - most of it is the lyrics of a Motorhead song.
Yes, wolf I saw that....its the bit on the end that I think is a slur on our young people
Question Author
Oh dear, blame Motörhead please, not me lol
I honestly had never heard it :0/
Question Author
So did MH release this last year? With 2019 being in it
Curious , that’s all as they are more 60s/70s band
Bobbi, motorhead didn’t add the bit on the end....and don’t you think its an unwarranted slur?
Question Author
Yes looking at it, it is but I can honestly say I didn’t really take the date into account so if there’s a Mod looking in ,can you please take this down
Thanks
mamya - I found that but there was nothing specific about the song itself. There are some thought-provoking songs about war especially WWII
If those are supposed to be the words of an old soldier, then maybe "slur" is too strong. It's the viewpoint of a elderly person who may feel his experiences and those of his comrades are being overlooked...forgotten.
Don't have this taken down, Bobbi...its a worthwhile discussion.
I should have said it *could* have been the viewpoint...
Sorry Wolf, that was to point out when it was written by Lemmy Kilmister (well most of it).
