/// The incident is not being treated as terrorism and initial enquiries indicate the victim and the suspect may be known to each other, Scotland Yard added. No arrests have been made. ///

With stabbings being carried out on the streets of London, on an almost daily basis, why the need in this case to inform the public that this one is not being treated as a terrorist attack?

Because someone would suggest it was terrorism, so they're stopping it out straight away. Makes sense no?
AOG, To stop any speculation.
Maybe they think by telling us that, we can sleep sound, and not worry.?
Could it be the question was posed to the Met Police and they responded rather than their volunteering that fact?
Also, the fact it happened in a world-famous location may have led some folk to speculate about the reasons for the attack.
People being stabbed in London doesn't really seem like news any more.
Was it ever? People have always been stabbed if not butchered.
> why the need in this case to inform the public that this one is not being treated as a terrorist attack?

Yes take Jack the Ripper for instance, he was never caught either, but he has gone down in history.
But today's killers are forgotten over night.
Aye because their stabbings are one offs, and not very impressive.

At least jack the ripper had style, constancy and what seemed like an agenda.

I can understand that if it had been a mass stabbing of tourists, or a suspected package being found, but a person stabbed by someone they are reporting as being know to the victim???????
How many serial killers have there been in the UK over the last thirty years?
ANOTHEOLDGIT, some folk see a potential link to terrorism in virtually any incident, perhaps the Met said what they did in order to allay those fears?
Interesting people suggest it is to stop speculation when in fact it tends to do the total opposite.

Who knows what the truth is these days.
They're damned if they do, damned if they don't.
It's usually because the stabber is a Muslim who is screaming 'allahu akbar' during the attack.
