The industry I and my husband work in is difficult to recruit into. When I was made redundant last year he said I should look on the website of where he works for jobs. I applied and got a job there. Now he has received a 1k bonus for referring a successful recruit! I maintain the money should be in part mine but have as yet failed to convince him to give me any of it. I did all the hard work interviewing (plus there were tests to go throufh)and all he said was why don't you look on the website for jobs!

Then perhaps he should give me £100 lol
Oh I personally think he could have given you something but everyone has different ways of dealing with their finances in a marriage.
a nice bonus, but yes, he recruited you so it's his. Maybe he'll buy you a drink some time?
What happened to all my worldly goods , I thee ..... and all that ?

Frankly I'm surprised that this money should be the source of an issue between you both

50 / 50 would be fair imo.
It is his in theory, but at least get some shoes and handbags out of it!
Straight into the joint account in this house.
same here, Captain, but I don't know that it's the modern way.

The thing is like a lot of people our money is mostly accounted for each month out of the joint account. This is money that could be spent on something we can't usually afford and we both have different.ideas what.that.thing could be. His ideas are, naturally, stupid!
If someone you weren’t married to got the bonus for referring you I’d say he should have the money. As he is your husband it belongs to both of you. IMHO.
Husband and wife? 50/50 or you have headaches for such a long time...... ;-)
or you have headaches for such a long time...... ;-)

That's why my heart said he should keep it but my head said 50 / 50 ;-)
Sensible man, Tony....sensible man..... :-)
He should take you for a nice meal
Happy wife, happy life......mr. B .
I agree with Cloverjo.
A couple of the 'firms' i regularly bet with offer incentives for recommending customers. I have persuaded a few friends to sign up with them - they already had accounts with other firms - and we split my reward 60/40 in my favour.
No it's not yours because you weren't the referer. That stated a gesture would be nice.
