thanks for all the replies but the body word needed to go in FRONT of the word FINE to make a longer one or two word phrase

blood-fine

According to Chambers, this is a fine paid in compensation for a murder.

It wouldn't be a "stiff fine", would it? In terms of a fine - ie a punishment imposed by a court - a 'stiff' (adjective) one of those would mean it involved payment of a considerable number of pounds/dollars or whatever. On the other side, a 'stiff' (noun) is a slang word for a dead body!

We gave you this before! As gen2 says it is BLOOD. Why did you simply ignore those that gave you this answer previously?

Sorry biley, I'm just back from a short break and didn't know what has been happening over the last 10 days. If I'd known you'd answered this before, I wouldn't have posted here.

No No gen2 - nothing to be sorry about at all, just don't understand why spaldinglinc is asking this question again when he/she has had the answer before - it may be he/she thinks blood is not a body part or it is not the right answer for some reason or another but if this is the case then he/she should be saying this rather than suggesting all the replies that were given before were not for words to go in front of fine. The first two were indeed not correct but the next person to answer came up with blood (as did I having not seen this person's reply).

Any comments spaldinglinc?
