Just a clue for you.

The key word is 'tailored' which implies an anagram of the words before it.  That will give you the first (9 letter) word.  The trousers then follow.

Could it be Gladstone Bags ...sold a gent is an anagram of Gladstone and his name was given to the small portmanteau or travelling bag. Bags ..also another word for trousers as in Oxford bags.
