I cannot be the only one who is tired of the endless playground spats and nitpicking over every word of a post in search of something to be offended by.

It is getting increasingly tedious finding threads totally derailed from the get go.

As it is not possible to 'knock their heads together' how can this childish behaviour be stopped before AB becomes a total spat fest?

I suppose there could be a limit placed on the number of posts containing sometimes entire previous answers before getting to the member's own thoughts.
That, for me at least would make life much simpler and cut down the superfluous word count that some may see as an accomplishment.
The nature of this site lends its self to spats, on occasions. It is usually topical and often emotive subject matter. Is it in danger of becoming a "spat fest", perhaps as I only visit occasionally I am not getting a sense of it?
LOl...LOL.
You mean "Fight! Fight! and when you push your way through the baying crowd, there on the floor, all arms and fists is Andy-Hughes and AOG.

Both old sparing warhorses of yesteryear but quite different in their own way.
Both intelligent AOG is crafty and A-H always has to have the last word. There are one or two others that "egg them on" but all in all........quite entertaining.

Some weeks ago, we all had a laugh when A-H announced a cease fire, as sort of amnesty with apologies flying about and mutual respects like only Ab can think up and then within 24 hours......whaaam! off it started again.

No, to me, this is an important part of AB, but i do have sympathy with the suggestion of douglas 9401 that their threads should be limited to say........70 posts..

It's all good stuff Eccles.
Maybe we could have a debating site that carries on as usual and a discussion site where people can discuss something free from being attacked.
spats okay and can be quite interesting. The last couple of months though has been like ground hog day.
Eccles no one is forcing you to go onto these threads. I find the 'guess what happened to me, chortle splutter' threads tiresome and somewhat fabricated so I avoid them. Why do you feel the need to knock their heads together since when have you been the Boss?
I often think it a shame the main topic gets lost - but it is obvious those scrapping love every minute.
By Heck Ecc no one is forcing you to read any of this !

and gav mac's suggestion of a debating corner
woulld be improved if one also insisted that a post was only admitted if it were completely off the point or off the wall

and sorry - none of this is trivial gush .....

horses for courses -some like a good fight , some like a good cuddle ;-)
agree retro

there is some awful tripe around
but all one need do is skip over it and go elsewhere
aw Peter you will be spoiling the grumble weeds fun - that is to go on a thread you are not remotely interested in just to tell the participants to play nice cos you don't like their attitude. I'd rather watch two posters try to academically beat each other over the head with a wet haddock than watch a handful of luvvys massaging one another's egos -at least I don't need a sick bag lol!
Retro, meet you round the back of the playground bike shed in a half an hour: bring you own bottle...I'll show you my etchings and my cuckoo collection.
there are mny "last-worders" nd you are right (or is tht left?) that it is totally tedious. My best advice is to ignore "news"
A bottle of spiced rum, a cuckoo clock and a randy colonial - what dreams may come - wear your touque ;-P
I'm more in retro's camp, the spats are far more interesting to follow than most other stuff and only tend to happen in news anyway. They make great reading most of the time. Some of the repeated froth and exclusive (there I've said it) love-ins that go in CB can get equally tiresome.
And string vest and sandals with white socks. It's still bloomin' 'ot 'ere...Not complaining though.
Stuey how disgusting -white socks and its after Labor Day - you have gone way down in my estimation now..............
Scroll down to my "vice" thread and see if you can recognize that object, Retro.
Getting a bit like a 'love-in' thread this innit!
It does appear to be going on on tangerines, Talbot:)...Sorry, Eccles.
