Good morning fellow puzzelers.I just wondered if there are any more prize crosswords in the newspapers during the week beside the mail, express and monday's telegraph. I'm talking about monday to friday as there are plenty to do on saturday and sunday. I get withdrawal symptons if I finish the mail and express ones early in the day.

Try The Listener in Saturday's Times; the crossword in Saturday's Independent magazine; and Enigmatic Variations in the Sunday Telegraph TV mag. They should keep you going all week...

thanks quizmonkey. Whats the deadlines on these?
You get nearly two weeks for the Listener, 10 days-ish for EV, and not sure about the Indie. I was being slightly tongue-in-cheek with my post as these are famously the toughest crosswords published in the UK.

Cheers quizmonkey. I like a challenge anyway.
Hi Fergol  -  Try and get hold of 'The Almost Impossible Crossword Book' by Gyles Brandreth.  I bought the paperback in 1984 for 2.50, published by Sphere Books, ISBN 0-7221-1864-3.  There are 52 puzzles, including the World's First Crossword Puzzle and the 'Smallest Ever' (just ONE square!).  Absolutely wicked!  Incidentally, 'The Largest Ever' (which is mentioned but not included) covered an area of 18 suare feet, with 6,257 across clues and 6,051 down clues.  Solve that!! Regardz, ja
