The question is - Who is the most capped English Player"? It does say in which sport. It is a six letter name and, if I am correct that far, it is an anagram of PMGEIA, but I simply cannot find any capped English sports person (could be male or female) to match. I may have made an error but I am certain that at least two of tlettes are E and A.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

how do you get the letters

It's a word fit with the letters for the answer ringed. They may have made a mistake - they do not often, but it is possible.
The letters you give spell Magpie (which doesn't make sense).
(Rachel) Yankey is the most capped ladies footballer, which contains the two letters you are sure of.

Many thanks.
All my searches came up with Peter Shilton, but they were obviosly not quite up-to-date. !26 is a lot of caps - she did do well!

I'm back again I'm afraid. I am sure Yankey (Rachel) is correct, but trying to rearrange the words in the diamond grid I realised that looking at all the words in total to be fitted in there is not two Ys! I've had no success with her predecessor Shilton (Peter) either. There must be a mistake in the puzzle itself. I think at his point I will give up on that one!
Question Author
Whoops, sorry! I should have said "there ARE not two Ys".
