Sorry tilly no, it's driving me crazy.
Very tenuous, but could it be reindeer?
Rained ear = sounds like poured?
Just a suggestion. I don't really like it and I'll keep thinking.
No idea. A something backdrop?
Post Office Are Real Deliverers (not Santa)

Still thinking here. How will we know when we have got it right?
Good point Tilly lol. Still wondering why it's in capital letters.
Think this could be the longest Q&P thread I've seen!

Come on you lot - sort it out.
Any ideas Captain? Please????
Not a clue! Lost the will to live when the tea/coffee ran out.

I've been doing these since it began 10 or so years ago and I have never found one this hard. There is no obvious clue but you'll know when you've got it right. Don't ask me how but you will. I appreciate all your efforts. WE WILL CRACK IT!!!! lol
And you just know it will be something blindingly obvious lol!
Been thinking about this one for 2 weeks now.

POLLARD is a tree that has been pollarded or trimmed.

Take out 2 LL's ie no L's and you have POARD

So answer could be

Christmas (No L's or Noel) Trees
Applauds Paul!
Sounds just a bit contrived though I have nothing better to offer!!
Question Author
wow Paul this could be the answer. Good thinking get yourself a coffee lol
Question Author
Looked into pollard regarding trees. Bit tricky it also relates to trimming back horns in oxen, stags and sheep and the dictionary and thesaurus just refer to pruning of trees. So I really don't know on this one. What about Christmas trimming!!!
