14. Chief's theme here with no end in sight.....

The answer is AGA

An earlier respondent called kalahari in a different thread explained this as:

AG (end) A

but I am still clueless. Is Ag a word meaning end in some dialect? - and where does the 2nd A come from? I understand that a chief can be an Aga, but beyond that I don't understand the cryptic clue. Please can someone explain.

Thanking you in advance.

Loosely a topic can be a theme or item on the agenda, remove end and you're left with aga. ????
