Was going to buy some very boring toothbrush heads from Amazon. Has been a while since I have ordered from them, but the delivery options have changed!

I was offered super saver delivery as a free trial, but didn't tick that box as I just know I would forget to cancel after the trial and get a monthly charge.

On a £9.95 product I clicked the next best thing, which I think was 2 day delivery..........that was a whopping £5.01!

Then I spotted the pick up for a store near you, figuring that may be cheaper. It was not. That would cost me £6.01!

Have decided to pay a little more for the product in Boots, because it's a darn sight cheaper now they have changed their postal rates.

Good news for the High Street, perhaps?

Look before you click is now my motto, vv.

It is staggering how the total cost can be bumped up. It has to be good news for the retailers, even taking into account our travel costs to get there.
Amazon is great if you buy direct from them (not a marketplace seller on there) and spend over £15.00 as delivery is free. Anything under that price I tend to buy elsewhere.
Recently I have bought cheap items that I need as extras to qualify for the free delivery. Works well for me.

Agreed, choux!

I have no excuse for using Amazon really as I live slap bang in the middle of a town centre! I went on because it was a cheaper (I thought!). Well it is, until you factor in the postage!
I can't see how 3 toothbrush heads could cost over five quid to post! Nor why it is more expensive to pick up in a store near you. Strange.

Daffy and hc, I probably should have purchased another item to qualify for free delivery, but mind mind went blank, as I didn't need anything!
I don't use Amazon much, but what I like about it is that even though I order from Amazon Ca, the items usually come from the States; therefore, I don't have to pay our 13% sales tax.
You actually frightened me as I was just placing an order with Amazon and I thought you were looking over my shoulder. I always go for the free 3 to 5 days delivery
I forgot to add that I always get free shipping also.

That wasn't an option on my £9.95 thing Psybbo, although I'm now gathering that I should perhaps have ordered something else to bump the price for the free delivery!
I am now pondering what else I need and will go back and try again!

What's Amazon Ca, stewey? I gather you are not from these here parts!

Think my problem was my item was to cheap to qualify for free delivery. I shal try again! lol
LOL vv. Don't spend more than the p&p charge on something you could happily live without :)
Question Author
I'll only buy something as much as the postage choux.......I think! lol
Amazon Ca(nada), V V. I guess you order from Amazon UK.
Question Author
Ah, stewey, Canada! Lovely country, you lucky blighter! Are you an ex pat?

Yep, It's UK Amazon I'm on, and still trying to work out the cheapest postage! Sadly I'm not good at maths and am also easily confused by computers. lol
I was just a child when we came over, V V, so I don't think I'd really qualify as an ex pat. Yet it's strange that I feel sort of "at home" on this site.

I have relatives, stewey, that moved away years ago, yet they still feel something for the old Blighty!
Interesting I am not sure the option to collect the item in person at a local store is offered by the American Amazon. What store? Personally I just go with standard shipping.
Shadow, here in the UK Amazon has partnered up with local stores such as the Co-op supermarket and newsagents where you can collect your goods from if it is more convenient for you - say you are out all day. Most Co-ops open early and close late.
The company I work for sells loads on Amazon and we don't charge a penny for postage
Question Author
Shadowpuppet, I'm in UK and a few stores popped up that I could collect from, all tailored to me locally. It was more expensive, though, so I haven't done it.
I can't work out why that is the more expensive option?
There is probably a reason, but who knows?
